Florin S was only five years old when he joined the Hand of Help family. His foster parents brought him up from the age of four months until then, but due to their age, according to Romanian law, they were ineligible to continue fostering.
At the time, we had many boys in our care, and Florin quickly made new friends and adapted to life at the orphanage.
We immediately noted the congenital disease he was dealing with, palmoplantar keratoderma, a disease he had inherited from his mother. We provided Florin with the best possible medical care, including treatments exceeding $150/month.
Many years passed, and Florin pursued a trade school to become a barber. After a two-year training program, Florin was hired to work in a salon.
When Florin turned 18, he strongly desired to become a financially independent adult. After a few months of working through the process, the courts granted Florin independent status.
He has rented a place in town and responsibly cares for himself. He keeps in touch with his half-sister, Edera V., who also grew up with us and is currently in nursing school, and with the younger siblings living elsewhere.
Please continue to pray for Florin, that he would continue to seek the Lord, and that he would find a group of believers that would encourage him and spur him to love and good deeds.
Thank you for the difference you made in this young man's life!
